This is a very complex read. Mia and her “quirks” will capture your heart and at times amuse you. She is a brilliant artist with a huge heart. Mia’s childhood and past experiences shadow her past with pain, not unheard of when dealing with hurtful peers. Valla is the tough; take no prisoner, protector of the underdogs. Her sense of morals and compassion make her a character I will carry with me as an example of a champion. This romance is incredibly sweet and one of my favorites. This book, however, does contain an incredible amount of emotional pain. This novel is neither a lighter (I bawled at one part) nor shallow read! This doesn’t have your typical HEA either. It isn’t a miserable ending that would keep me from reading the book, but something I wished I had known to better prepare myself before reading. It actually enhances the feeling behind the book. It is full of hope and possibilities that I could feel to the bottom of my heart, but not what I expected after reading “Music of the Soul”. I highly recommend this book and series as a constant favorite of mine.Product details

I absolutely loved this story. It was the first one I read by Erik Schubach but certainly not the last. After this I purchased them all. The whole ensemble of characters in all the books captured my heart. I could not put them down and had to read each story "in one setting". Amazing and cannot wait for another one!!
One of the sweetest, most tear inducing love stories of the series and still makes me tear up whenever Mia is mentioned in later books. This story stays with you in a good way.
Shubach once again delivers a heroine with a physical challenge and strong pride and surrounds them with loving friends who help them adjust to the world and turn their perceived handicap into an inner strength. This book does that with two illnesses that most readers know little about and though challenging, only make the characters stronger and more determined to make the most of their opportunities to excel.
It's a little hard to write a review about this story as it left me quite emotional. The characters are very strong individuals who will probably teach some a few things about life and love than you would expect from a story. It made me laugh and cry. It even broke my heart a little and made it a little better in the end. I'd sugest this story to anyone who loves a good strong romance and who enjoys reading a book that will make them feel all sorts of emotions.
I would give the story 5 stars, but it needs a bit more editing (punctuation, grammar, etc.), so I can only give it 4 stars.
Great story, and a really good lesbian romance. This was my second book I've read by Mr. Schubach, and I'm impressed with his creativity and storytelling. I found the characters to be well developed. If you love lesbian fiction, I recommend you give this a read.
A deafening whisper is a must read from the MOTS series it'll make you grab it and not put it down until you finish. I fell in love with the characters the second i opened the book. Though i would like to strangle the author for one scene i still love how he made you feel the exact emotions the characters feel it's like you're in the book itself watching the scene as it unfolds. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to read a book that pulls on your heart strings READ THIS ONE
This book was amazing. Mia is a young woman that has been harassed her whole life and has been in and out of many foster homes. She meets her true when she first enters college and it turnes into an wonderful LOVE story. Mia has Obssesive Compulsive Disorder and Valla has a sickness that she hasn't revealed. Of course their personalities and talents (Mia an artist and Valla a poet) make them beautiful people and quite sexy with one another.
This author is truely talented. I did have to stop reading one night because it was so emotioonal and I didn't want puffy eyes the next day! But I think this speaks a thousand words!
